It was so valuable, I just can’t adequately express it.

Find out for yourself what made last year’s workshop for instructors of Koine Greek such a success.  The Biblical Language Center and Fresno Pacific University are pleased to announce that they will be running their second fluency workshop for instructors of Koine Greek, July 22-August 1, in Fresno, California.

Here is what another participant said about last year’s workshop:

I was amazed at how much we covered in just 7 days… I saw such potential for teaching in a way that would 1) help my students who struggle with the traditional methods; 2) help ALL my students to understand better, and retain longer; 3) transform learning Greek from a drudgery into a game, that I decided it was worth the effort.
— Marcia Moore, Abilene Christian University

Yes, speaking and hearing ancient Greek is a good thing. And now, back by popular request, a workshop specifically designed to grow oral fluency in Koine Greek.  Teaching Greek in Greek at the rate of natural speech offers advantages in efficiency, attainment levels, and broader student success throughout the various stages of language learning. However, there is a prerequisite to build our skills in this area of rapid, classroom communication in Greek. This workshop is designed to help Greek teachers bridge a gap from typical Greek training to the needs of immersion methodologies.

Second Language Acquisition studies have shown that speaking a language is a catalyst for truly internalizing a language. In addition to maximizing internalization, the workshop will also work on skills necessary for effectively applying Communicative Language Teaching methods to the classroom. The workshop will be run “immersion” style, with the entire day, 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM, including lunch, taking place in Koine Greek. Both full group sessions and several smaller groups with ‘facilitators’ will provide maximum personal attention and practice.
